Brow Game Strong: How Professional Waxing Can Elevate Anyone’s Look

Your brows are a prominent part of your image that rarely gets the brow care and attention they deserve. Not only do your eyebrows catch falling dirt and debris before it gets into your eyes, but they also divert sweat and moisture away from your eyes and help you communicate more effectively. Whether we mean for them to or now our eyebrows give away our mood and emotions. They also form part of the framework of our face and eyes, so keeping them neatly groomed is of vital importance. One of the best ways that you can present a strong brow game is by keeping regular professional brow waxing appointments at the salon.

Does Waxing Hurt?

Brow waxing removes hair by pulling it out of the hair follicle at the root level. Because the hairs are being pulled out there will be some level of discomfort, however, well-trained estheticians have the skill level and know the techniques to keep waxing sessions as comfortable as possible with very little pain. And the good news is that when you wax regularly the hair follicles become desensitized, the hair becomes easier to remove, and your waxing session becomes more comfortable.

Preparing For Your Wax

Preparing for your eyebrow grooming appointment is easy. Keep yourself well hydrated, and about 3 days before your appointment it is a good idea to gently exfoliate the areas to be waxed. This removes excess skin cell buildup and makes the waxing process more effective, but avoid exfoliating any closer to your appointment as it can cause a lot of skin irritation. You will need to avoid shaving for 5-7 days before your appointment to allow enough regrowth for the wax to grab onto. Hairs should be about the same length as a grain of rice. Avoid sun exposure for several days before and for 24 hours after your appointment. We can not wax sunburned skin, and freshly waxed skin is more susceptible to sunburn. You will also want to avoid retinol products for a week before and after your wax and stay away from injectables like Botox for two weeks before your appointment. These beauty treatments sensitize the skin and will make your waxing session quite uncomfortable.

Salon Waxing VS DIY At Home

There are many DIY waxing kits available, and while it may be convenient to wax at home it is not exactly the best choice. At-home wax kits may overheat and cause burns. The wax is messy, and if you aren’t very careful you could end up removing more hair than you intended. It only takes one drop of drippy wax to take a big chunk out of your brows. Salon waxing is also much more comfortable because estheticians are highly trained professionals who know the proper technique to remove hair with minimal discomfort. And there is no comparison between the results of home brow waxing and professional brow shaping. Your brow specialist can create a perfectly defined brow that accentuates and enhances your facial features and structure.

Waxing Aftercare

Your skin will be ultrasensitive right after it is waxed, so you will need to treat it gently. As was mentioned before stay out of the sun for at least 24 hours and avoid retinol products. You might want to avoid the pool or swimming in the ocean for a day or two as well. The pool chemicals and salt water might sting your sensitive skin. Avoid tight-fitting clothing that can cause friction and irritate your skin, and do not exfoliate for a week or two following your appointment. Taking a break from the gym for a few days may also be in order because excessive sweating can irritate freshly waxed skin as well.

How Often Should I Get My Brows Waxed?

To maintain the desired shape and look for your brows it is recommended to get them waxed every 2-6 weeks, depending on your individual growth pattern. You may need to wax a little more often at first, but you should be able to increase the amount of time between waxes a little after a few sessions. Brow maintenance is fast and convenient once you discover brow waxing.

Facial Waxing Beyond The Brows

Your brows aren’t the only facial hair that can be removed via waxing. Any unwanted facial hair can be waxed. Depending on your hair removal needs you can choose unibrow waxing, lip waxing, chin waxing, nose waxing, and even ear waxing. Facial waxing services avoid nicks and cuts from shaving, eliminate messy, stinky hair removal creams, and last longer than any other hair removal option. Proper facial waxing keeps you looking polished and professional at all times, so make facial grooming at the salon part of your regular beauty routine to elevate your look and always put your best face forward.
