How do I wash my extensions?
For shampooing, we recommend that you always use a sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner. Sulfates are harsh cleansing agents that are found in many shampoos that can be particularly drying to extensions. Using a good quality moisturizing shampoo and leave-in conditioner without sulfates will keep your hair soft, shiny, manageable and looking gorgeous.
Pureology has many excellent sulfate free products that are great for hair extensions as well as a dry shampoo that is also a good option for cleansing your hair, absorbing oils, and make your hair feel and smell fresh.
How do I condition?
Conditioning is a must. Apply a high quality moisturizing conditioner from the mid-section of your hair down to the tips right after shampooing and allow it to remain on your hair for 2 to 3 minutes to be fully absorbed. Be careful to avoid applying conditioner to the scalp and root area.
For added moisture, also use a leave-in conditioner. Leave-in conditioners are wonderful for extensions and will help your hair to stay hydrated, manageable, shiny, and protected from damage during the day.
How do I style?
Anything that you can do with your natural hair, you can do with extensions. This means that you can curl, blow dry, and using heat tools such flat irons and curling irons for styling. When you do use heat tools, be sure to apply a heat protectant to protect your hair, and try not to use heat tools too often. You can also skip blowdrying and let your hair air dry on occasion. How do I brush?

If you do take a dip in the pool or ocean, rinse or wash your hair as soon as possible to remove salt or chlorine residue, and apply a moisturizing conditioner to your hair to restore the moisture level.
Another thing to avoid is going to sleep with wet hair. If you shampoo your hair in the evening, make sure that it is completely dry before turning in for the night. Then braid your extensions or tie in a loose ponytail. This will keep your hair from tangling as you sleep.
